Entry fifty. Two years and change of fortnightly homework. My streak is my favorite side project.

SpaceX tried to land a rocket on a floating barge this month. It found the barge, then hit it at an angle and exploded, and Elon posted the crash footage himself, captioned like a bug report: “full RUD (rapid unscheduled disassembly).” A company live-tweeting its own failed test with telemetry and humor is postmortem culture at 300 feet per second. They’ll stick one this year, I’d bet the streak on it.

Meanwhile the Premier League has invented the most philosophical debate of my lifetime: Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United is playing “possession football” that produces zero shots on target (they pass sideways, backward, then sideways again). “Philosophy-gate” has heat maps on sports TV. The office will now learn tactical geometry via Van Gaal’s whiteboard, the only way we ever could.

Tomorrow Microsoft shows Windows 10 (they skipped 9, and devs joke it’s because legacy code checks for “Windows 9*” to detect 95/98, which is too plausible to be false).

TIL: if (version.startsWith("Windows 9")) is why you can’t have nice version numbers. Naming: still one of the two hard problems.
